6 Degrees St. Gallen

A collaboration with the Institute for Canadian Citizenship.

By presenting a St. Gallen edition of its 6 Degrees program, the ICC can make the case to a global audience to be open to the positive forces of inclusion and active citizenship, and to take a leadership role in crafting the language and best practises that will drive individuals and organizations to accept the reality of diversity and to choose inclusion as the only viable path to sustainability and growth. Following the 48th St. Gallen Symposium, 6 Degrees
St. Gallen (5 May 2018) will be a full-day forum to discover, debate, and develop both organisations’ unique perspectives on the essential links between immigration, citizenship and inclusion, and the creation of innovative and robust economies in the 21st century.

The central goal of 6 Degrees St. Gallen will be to challenge the increasingly catastrophic assumption that immigrants are a negative drain on societies and economies, when in fact the opposite is the case. With the world of work changing so rapidly, mainstream societal attitudes toward diversity and inclusion are important bulwarks against social unrest and anxiety. Immigrants are innovators, taxpayers, and employers who make vital contributions to the communities in which they live, but only if they are both encouraged to do so and perceived as such.
